‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is giving back to community, following the financial success of his whiskey empire.
On the first anniversary of his Proper No. 12 whiskey, the Irishman announced that he will be donating $1 million dollar to the first responder organizations.
“Happy 1st birthday to @properwhiskey!!! What a journey it has been so far! We are now in 8 countries to date, with many more planned for 2020! I am so thankful to you all for your support and love of PROPER No. TWELVE,” he wrote.
“I also want to thank the fine Irish women and men who have worked so diligently at the distillery and beyond…what an amazing team we have. When we started this business, something very important to me was to give back.”
“For every case we sell, my company donates $5 up to 1 million dollars per year to first responders. I am very proud to announce that we have already hit the 1 million dollar mark! This is all thanks to you! Our fans! Thank you all.”
“In the New Year, we will begin donating the first million dollars to first responder organizations. My team is vetting it all out now to be sure it goes into the proper hands. Thank you all for the support!”
MMA Return
Before this kind gesture, the former UFC two-division champion has been involved in major controversies in the past months.
He was caught punching an elderly man at an Irish pub over a whiskey dispute last August. Meanwhile, in April, he stole and smashed a fan’s mobile device in Miami.
Aside from making headlines for the wrong reasons, McGregor has been busy calling out fighters for his upcoming return to active competition.
‘The Notorious’ said he will fight on January 18, 2020, potentially in the UFC’s first pay-per-view offering next year, with Donald Cerrone looming as his opponent.
He last fought Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229 in October 2018, where he was submitted in the fourth round.
Going Well
According to his manager, Audie Attar, their negotiations with Cerrone’s camp are going well and they are expecting to reach an agreement soon.
“I would say that talks have been progressing. We’ve met them [Cerrone’s team], we’re in close communication with them,” he told the South China Morning Post.
“I would hope that an announcement could happen in the coming weeks, but at the end of the day, it’s still a work in progress.”
Attar also believes McGregor will make his way back on top of the lightweight division.
“I don’t see him slowing down.”
“I think that fighting once a year for the last couple of years, it’s almost like it’s grown his appetite to stay active.”
“In any sport, the more reps you take, the better you get. He’s no stranger to becoming a world champion multiple times over. He knows what it takes.”
